Loweswater Cottage

Loweswater Cottage is full of character and incorporates the original carriageway arch, dated 1797. It can sleep up to six guests; it has two bedrooms downstairs with separate bathroom and the third bedroom is upstairs with an en-suite shower room. It is ideal for families and friends who enjoy being together but also like their own space.

The ground floor bedrooms (one double, one twin) are furnished in a country style with antique pine furniture and the bathroom has a bath for two with shower over. The large breakfasting kitchen is well equipped with hand painted units complimented by the original riven oak ceiling. The first floor master bedroom extends over the carriage archway and has original oak beams and trusses. It is furnished with antique pine and the bedstead is antique brass and iron. The bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. The lounge/dining room is large and spacious and is enhanced by the high vaulted ceiling of the original barn. The dining area overlooks the garden and from a side window seat one can see ‘The View.’ The cottage’s outdoor sitting area also looks down the length of Crummock Water.

Comments from Loweswater Cottage guests

Location is amazing, views stunning and cottage spotlessly clean. Thank you for the lovely cake and vases. Despite weather not being too good, managed lots of walks, high and low. Kirkstile pub good as ever. Sad to be leaving the Lakes again but will return soon. Thanks again for an enjoyable stay.

We had a fantastic two week stay in Loweswater cottage with our 9 month old baby. Joan is a lovely host and really thought of everything to make our stay more comfortable. The living room of the cottage is huge and is a brilliant play area for small children, and there are many beautiful walks from the doorstep including woodland, lakes, and high and low fells. It was wonderful watching the red squirrels and birds just outside the window, as well as the chickens, sheep and horses in the garden and nearby fields. Thanks again!

Surely one of the most beautiful views in England! Reasonable weather – hiked all the Wainwrights around Crummock and swam a couple of times. Ate at the Kirkstile Inn – very good. Delicious cake and such a clean cottage. Thank you.

A superb location. Lots of varied walks with little need of the use of a car. Wonderful to have so many green footpaths.
